Coming off the historic award of $12,000,000 to the Africatown Plaza Affordable Housing Development by the City of Seattle Office of Housing just a few weeks ago, King County has informed the Africatown Community Land Trust that the King County office of Housing, Homelessness, and Community Development will as well be awarding Africatown Plaza $2,000,000 towards project development.

Africatown Plaza, which will be located on 23rd and Spring in Seattle’s Central District is slated to have 132 units of affordable housing as well as below market commercial retail space with construction to start in late 2020 or early 2021.

Africatown Plaza will be Africatown Community Land Trust’s second affordable housing development, the first being the Liberty Bank Building which opened it’s doors with 115 affordable housing units earlier this year and has already picked up two prestigious awards that highlight the Liberty Bank Building’s stellar design and functionality.

Africatown Plaza is a partnership between the Africatown Community Land Trust and Capital Hill Housing.
